When is the most recent volcano eruption

Detailed statistics are not kept on daily activity, but generally there are around 20 volcanoes actively erupting on any particular day ; this is a subset of the normal with continuing eruptions. Additional eruption data is available for recent years.

The most recently started eruption is at the top, continuing as of the Stop Date given. An eruption listed here might have ended since the last data update, or at the update time a firm end date had not yet been determined due to potential renewed activity.

Complete updates are done about every weeks, but information about newer eruptions can be found in the Weekly Report. Current Eruptions. Gas measurements showed that sulfur dioxide emissions had increased from tons per day recorded on 14 October to tonnes per day. Additionally, carbon dioxide increased from to tonnes per day and hydrogen sulfide increased from 10 to 38 tonnes per day. The gas data suggested that a pulse of gas was rising from molten material at depth. Temperatures in the main vent area were as high as degrees Celsius, similar to temperatures first measured in September and onward.

Very minor ash emissions were visible and deposits only extended around the active vents. The lake had slightly deepened from recent rainfall. Report for Krakatau PVMBG reported that during periods of clear weather during November white plumes from Anak Krakatau were visible rising as high as m above the summit.

White-to-gray plumes were seen in webcam images during November rising m and crater incandescence was visible three times. The Alert Level remained at 2 on a scale of , and the public was warned to remain outside of the 2-km-radius hazard zone from the crater. As many as lava avalanches traveled a maximum of 2 km SW.

One pyroclastic flow traveled 2 km SW. The Alert Level remained at 3 on a scale of , and the public was warned to stay km away from the summit based on location. The events were accompanied by a series of four short-lived plumes that rose less than 1 km above the lake. The characteristics of the seismic signals were similar to the phreatic bursts recorded in July. Upwelling hot volcanic fluids were visible in the crater lake during November, and gas-and-steam plumes rose 0.

Low-level background tremor continued along with as many as volcanic earthquakes per day during and November and as many as 85 low-frequency volcanic earthquakes per day during and November.

There were also daily episodes of volcanic tremor, each lasting between 1 and 19 minutes. The Volcano Alert Level remained at a 2 on a scale of The explosions produced ash plumes that rose as high as 2 km above the crater rim and ejected material m from the carter.

The Alert Level remained at 3 and the public was warned to stay 2 km away from the crater. An eruption at on 2 November produced a plume that rose 1. Employees in the News. Emergency Management. Survey Manual. Seismicity and volcanic gas emission rates remain elevated. HST on Oct. USGS photo by J. HST, and at p. The first image was taken on September 29, , just before the eruption began; the second image was taken the morning of October 4, , just before 6 a.

HST and shows the continuing eruption and growing lava lake. USGS webcam images. This instrument autonomously measures lava lake elevation in real time, using the light-reflecting properties of the lava surface. The fixed instrument continuously measures the distance to a location on the western lava lake surface, and telemeters data to HVO in real time.

The raw data has been edited for this graph, with a running mean average filter of seconds. Variations in plotted depth can occur due to laser rangefinder returns on gas rather than the lava surface. The ongoing eruption is adding to that lava depth. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center VAAC Toulouse warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated ft m altitude or flight level and is moving at 15 kts in SW direction.

Sun, 7 Nov , La Palma Canary Islands Spain : The activity at the volcano continues at levels similar to yesterday, reduced compared to the weeks before.

Fri, 5 Nov , La Palma Canary Islands Spain : Both the visible eruptive activity at the vent and the lava flows as well as internal seismic activity have been lower today overall. Ash emissions are more intermittent and less intense since the marked drop in volcanic tremor yesterday.

Wed, 3 Nov , Volcanic Ash Advisory Center VAAC Toulouse warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated ft m altitude or flight level and is moving at 10 kts in S direction. Most notably, volcanic tremor dropped sharply at around noon local time to about half its values of the previous days average. Try our free app!
